- Shovel or plow loose snow first so the melter can reach the ice underneath.
- Spread a thin, even layer by hand scoop or with a broadcast or drop spreader. More is not better; a light, uniform coat works faster and wastes less.
- Give it a few minutes to break the bond between the ice and the pavement, then shovel away the loosened slush.

No deicer is meant to be eaten, so wipe paws after walks, keep pets from licking treated surfaces, and store the container out of reach. Do not use any deicer on concrete that is less than one year old, or on concrete that is already cracked, spalled or poorly sealed. Always follow the directions on the package and keep product away from children.
